Prom season is well on it’s way and you know what that means for teen girls, the search for the perfect dress. To many, it is a time of fun and excitement. Finding the perfect dress is what every young girl is on a mission to do. Whether you go alone, with a date, or in a group to the prom you must be beautiful and beautifully dressed.
Remember to stick to a budget. Dresses can be pretty expensive. Talk with your parents about what a good amount is to spend for your dress. Also, do some research into how much dresses should cost and what kind you want. You should be as informed as possible when you start looking. There are many places you can go to get a dress, from the internet to the malls to local designer dress shops. Decide whether you want a formal or informal dress.
Get a dress that flatters your body style. If you are pear shaped (bigger hips and small at top) and want to hide it, you want to choose a dress that flows softly over the lower half. Draw attention to the waist and let the skirt or dress flare out from the fitted waist.
If you have large arms that you are not comfortable with, try to find something with a shrug or short jacket. There are many things you can do to conceal your arms, try this dress Duchess with/matching Shrug, Sidney’s closet.
If you are petite try empire waist dresses, they will elongate the waist. Being petite you have many things out there that will look great on you but you may need to get them hemmed or taken in if they are too large. Petites will look fabulous in this type of dress.
Plus sized girls can wear almost anything. Just because you are curvy doesn’t mean you can’t look incredible. Don’t be shy, show some skin and enjoy yourself in a flirty little dress. Who said big isn’t beautiful!! Make sure you stay young, all too often, plus sized dresses look old….stay youthful.

Disguise a thick waist, or box shape, by eliminating the waistline. You can also try raising or lowering the waistline to camouflage. Go with a V-neck to draw the attention away from the waist and up to the bust area.
For 2008, there are so many beautiful dresses. If you recognize your problem areas and want to conceal them, there are a multitude of dresses that can accomplish this task. It makes me wish I could go back in time to my prom, at times. I guess I’ll have to settle for banquets and any other reasons I can find to dress up! I love being a girl!! You should, too…..Enjoy your prom, ladies.
Watch for my next prom post on make-up, and things to do and not to do on that special night.
