Gallstones are small pebbles that form inside the gallbladder. Its main causes include genetics and diets high in fat. Often small and harmless, gallstones can be flushed out by bile fluid that our bodies naturally produce. However, if a larger one forms, it can cause blockage of bile in the gallbladder or liver and can lead to serious discomfort and infection, which can even lead to surgery. The following are some tips given by medical professionals to avoid gallstone formation.
Exercise. Says a study at the University of Illinois, physical activity can significant reduce gallstone formation. So make sure you stretch and flex your muscles regularly.
Drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day. This helps flush out existing small gallstones before they become bigger and harmful.
Eat foods with which are good Omega-3 fatty acid and Vitamin C sources. Tests have shown that omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin C may also help prevent gallstones.
Do the apple therapy. If you have been diagnosed with gallstones, you may try the apple therapy method which many people have proven effective because apple has components that can soften the gallstones. Just drink at least 4 glasses of apple juice everyday for a week. You can also eat 4-5 apples per day, whichever you prefer.
